It’s with so much pride that I announce to you the birth of Rebecca Joy Reutter (5lb 12oz) at 10:40 PM (8:40 Eastern) and Anna Grace Reutter (3lb 8oz) at 10:42 PM! The babies are super healthy, and the mother too! Praise God for his faithfulness to us – and thank all of you praying on our behalf. The births could not have gone better.

Rebecca Joy and Anna Grace
Even though here platelets were low, Ruth was still able to have an epidural. Because I grow weak and faint at the sight of blood (it’s true), I was in an adjoining room when Rebecca was born. I heard a healthy cry and tears came to my eyes. I heard the next cry and I was just beaming. Ruth said that her joy would be complete when she heard them cry, and I was so thrilled that she got the joy of hearing her healthy babies cry!
Anna’s already started to nurse well, and Rebecca – well – she’s been wanting to sleep! Since we have no internet at the hospital, I had to come back home to share the great news with all of you who were right here with us in spirit! Look at these photos! Did you ever see anything so beautiful? I think not
Maybe I’m partial though.

We were already thanking God for healthy babies before delivery
Continue to pray for Ruth’s quick recovery and for the girls to put on some weight. We thank all of you so much for your love and support and check back here soon for more updates, pictures and prayer requests! We won’t let our guard down now- but pray them through these first critical months! Now enjoy these photos (remember to click on them to see them nice and large)

What started out as a leisurely lunch quickly turned into excitement/panic/excitement! We received a phone call from Ruth’s doctor that the c-section has been scheduled for tonight, Monday at 9 PM, 7 PM Eastern!! He felt it was important enough to schedule the surgery even before getting Ruth’s blood work back later today. We are asking everyone to take some time out at 7PM Eastern tonight to lift Ruth and the babies up in prayer!

Last day with the twins inside!
We have peace about having the babies now, even though we originally would have liked to wait until the Nov 20. Ruth was having several Braxton-Hicks contractions yesterday, and after talking to several doctors involved with Ruth’s delivery, we see God’s hand in it all. We cannot risk any real contractions since Ruth’s last c-section was just a little over a year ago. We also just learned that 3 more incubators were added to the local regional hospital, so if we need them, they’ll be there. We’re praying that we don’t, but praise God they’re there.
We continue to trust in Him and ask you to pray with us for:
- A smooth surgery
- high platelet count for Ruth so she can have a spinal block and not general anesthesia – we get the blood test results back this afternoon
- healthy baby girls with no need for incubators or any other complications
- Ruth’s quick recovery and no need for blood transfusions

Yesterday, on the very same day that Ruth went full-term with her twins, something very special happened. In our backyard, two flowers bloomed from one plant. The promise flower came back! Just as a rainbow serves as a reminder that God will never again destroy the earth by a flood, these flowers reminded us of God’s promise to us! In the darkest hour of our lives God gave us a symbol of hope, and now, right before the completion of that promise, He reminds us of His faithfulness. What a wonderful God we have! I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to see a double-flower again without welling up with emotion and gratitude to God.
Read the original story behind the Promise Flower here (it’s a post from last year right after losing Anna Rebecca).
7PM tonight, the promise blooms. Be praying!
The time for the twins to be born is rapidly approaching! The most recent ultrasound on the twins show that they continue to be healthy and grow: Anna at 1.85 kilos (about 4 pounds) and Rebecca at 2.4 kilos (about 6 pounds). We pray that they will continue to grow and stay in the womb until November 20, when they will be 38 weeks along.
Our biggest request right now is for Ruth’s platelet count, which is low and continues to drop. She’s been having regular blood tests to keep an eye on it, and recently they have gone quite low. Our doctor has ordered more blood tests on Monday, and if they are lower yet, Ruth will be scheduled for her c-section on Tuesday! Although the twins would be fine if born now, we would like to see them stay in even longer and see Anna get a little more weight. We would also like to see Ruth completely healthy!
Let’s pray for an increase in Ruth’s platelets by Monday – for her health and for the babies. We praise God for these miraculous babies and thank you for all your prayers and support. Now let’s get prayin’!
