Hello Canp, Hello Work
Once in Monte Alegre, local pastors took us 15 Kilometers on a dirt highway to the town of Canp. The team rented the upper floor of a business on the main street. It would be our home for the next week. It was a real trick getting all of our luggage up the narrow spiral staircase!
The next day we got out to the work site to get busy on the church. Work had already started on this project, but we would help get much more work done. We divided into teams to make rebar, prepare the foundations and pour the concrete. Brick layers were there as well working away on the walls. We worked several days in the hot Amazon sun, drinking lots of water and taking plenty of breaks, but we made good progress.
