I want to thank each one of you for all your prayers during the last weeks. Nate and I have felt them and they have carried us through the most difficult time in our lives. After 9 days in the hospital, I was finally released on October 3rd. Leaving the hospital was very difficult because my arms were empty. But God is so faithful and gives us the peace and strength we need each day. And our prayer is that we can live our lives for His glory!
As I was reading my Bible the first morning home, I read about the prophetess Anna, whom along with Joanne my mother-in-law, we named our daughter after. In Luke 2:37b, it says, “She never left the temple but worshiped night and day…” Our little Anna is accomplishing the purpose she was called to do – worship our Lord night and day! She is forever in His presence! Of course, I cry because I miss her, but I know she is so happy, worshiping Jesus!
The first night I was home, I kept waking up in the night every time I would roll over, reaching out with my arm to make sure my IV line was not in the way. I almost laughed out loud a couple of times. I’m still on antibiotics, and once those are done I go in to get blood tests to make sure the infection is completely gone. But praise the Lord I’m home! I’m ready to get back into the swing of things and get busy! I feel like I’ve been out of commission for weeks! We love you all so much and can’t thank God enough for all your support during this time.

Praying for you both and your loss. I hope that God will bless you richly during this time. During the hardest part of my life, these verses encouraged me. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
God bless you both!
Ruth I am so glad to hear you are out of the hospital. You and Nate have been in my prayers and those of my family. I love you!
Ruth –
I’ve missed you many times since you left the QC, but I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to fly down to Brazil and give you a big bear hug more than I’ve wanted to this past week. So here… *HUG* I love you (and you too Nate) so much. You are wonderful people, missionaries, and will be amazing parents. You are living, breathing testimonies of God’s power and strength. You are not merely putting up with a tragedy, but conquering it through Christ. My love is with you.

Hello Ruth and Nate!
Yesterday was our annual Skyline Drive outing, when our church and the Richmond church and our visitors meet at Big Meadows in the mountains of Shenandoah National Park to worship God outdoors. It was a gorgeous day and many of the trees displayed their fall colors. Our speaker read from Psalm 139:14-16, among others, and I immediately thought of you and Anna Rebecca. He listed some marvelous facts about our “wonderfully-made bodies”. Our days are ordained by God; we are here for only a brief time. We were challenged to use our days wisely and tell others about Jesus and their need for Him. Though Anna Rebecca never lived a day here on earth, her arrival and immediate departure has resulted in many hearing about our Creator God and their need for Him. To God be the glory! We love you and keep you in our prayers.
